It’s a bittersweet day for the Golden State Warriors.
GSW is losing longtime lead assistant Mike Brown, who has been reportedly hired as the new head coach of the Sacramento Kings on a four-year deal.
Brown, 52, has been with the Warriors as an assistant since 2016, helping win two titles in the process. Before that, Brown was a head coach from 2005-2014, spending six seasons with the Cavaliers and just over one season as the Lakers’ head coach. Brown was named the NBA Coach of the Year in 2009, when he helped lead LeBron James’ Cavs to a 66-16 record.
Overall Brown went 347-216 (.616 winning percentage) in part of eight seasons as a head coach. Brown worked as an assistant under Greg Popovich and Rick Carlisle before becoming a head coach.
