In the top of the fourth inning Monday against the Padres, right fielder Mike Yastrzemski flashed the leather in foul territory.
Yastrzemski cut Wil Myers’ at-bat short by flying from his position in right all the way to the netting over a KNBR sign in right. He made the web gem grab while stumbling, but he avoided crashing into the wall.
To that point, the outfielder had begun the year 0-for-8 with three strikeouts. But the 2021 Gold Glove finalist will be hard to remove from the lineup because of his ability in the outfield.
Entering the bottom of the fifth inning, the Giants trailed the Padres, 2-1.
