With the final game of the regular season upon us, we are still lacking clarity on Stephen Curry. Curry has been out with a left foot sprain since a dive for the ball went wrong against the Boston Celtics on March 16.
Steve Kerr said Sunday that the play is to ramp up his rehab this week, but isn’t sure exactly what that will look like.
The Warriors, Kerr said, are taking a very literal day to day approach with Curry. At this point, they don’t know whether he will be available for the start of the Warriors’ first round playoff series.
“There’s a chance he could be ready for game one,” Kerr said. “There’s a chance he might not [be ready]. It’s literally going to be a day to day thing as it all unfolds this week and we’ll know a lot more after the next few days when he’s ramping up his work. But there’s a chance we could get everybody on the same page and healthy.”
It’s a less than sparkling assessment with Kerr saying he imagines that Curry’s game one status “will go right down to the wire.”
An overdue return to the playoffs and a potential No. 3 seed is on the horizon and yet the Warriors may have to begin the series without Curry. At this point, we don’t have an answer.
