It could be a lot worse.
Stephen Curry has been diagnosed with a sprained ligament in left foot that will sideline him indefinitely, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic. The good news: The X-rays on the foot came back negative, showing no signs of a fracture of major damage.
What indefinitely means in a practical sense is anybody’s guess, but one would assume that Curry will return at some point — either in the postseason or regular season — considering there isn’t a break. Reporter Jordan Schultz says that a Warriors source has told him they expect Curry to be out for three weeks. Three weeks from today would be April 7, the final week of the regular season.
Curry sustained the injury in the first quarter of Wednesday’s loss to the Celtics, when Marcus Smart landed on his foot while diving for a loose ball. Curry immediately left the court and did not return.
Steve Kerr was irate in the aftermath, and called the play “dangerous” during his postgame presser. Other Warriors players — Draymond Green and Juan Toscano-Anderson — didn’t think it was dirty.
You be the judge.
