Yes, there is an NFL Draft coming up. It’s a bit less than three months away, and given that the 49ers don’t have a first-round pick as a result of the Trey Lance trade, it doesn’t have the same luster as it normally would.

But San Francisco does have nine picks, starting with the 61st overall selection at the end of the second round.

ESPN draft expert Jordan Reid took a crack at predicting both rounds, tipping the 49ers to go for a standout, Big-12 safety in Jordan Pitre.

Here’s what Reid had to say on Pitre:

“Pitre really impressed me at the Senior Bowl, and he was one of the biggest risers from the event. He primarily played the STAR position in Dave Aranda’s defense at Baylor, but he has a better skill set than playing only close to the line of scrimmage. Pitre is a smooth operator in coverage with some range. With Jaquiski Tartt hitting free agency, the 49ers could try to get younger in their secondary.”

Tartt is one of a handful of key free agents the 49ers have hitting the market, with Laken Tomlinson, D.J. Jones and K’Waun Williams also prominently towards the top of that list. It provides plenty of intrigue as to how the 49ers will approach the draft.
