The 49ers are drawing interest from around the league.
A day after reports surfaced that the Giants are looking to interview multiple members of the 49ers front office for their vacant general manager position, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network is reporting that the Dolphins are interested in interviewing a 49ers assistant coach.
Miami has requested an interview with Offensive Coordinator Mike McDaniel after the surprise firing of Head Coach Brian Flores on Monday. Aside from a two-year blip from 2009-2010, McDaniel has worked with Kyle Shanahan from 2006-2021.
McDaniel, 38, a Yale graduate and Colorado native, began as an intern with the Broncos under Mike Shanahan in 2005. Since that time he’s followed Kyle from Houston (2006-2008), to Washington (2011-2013), Cleveland (2014), Atlanta (2015-2016), before finally joining the 49ers with Shanahan as the team’s run game coordinator.
McDaniel was promoted to offensive coordinator this season following the departure of passing game coordinator Mike LaFleur last offseason.
49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk is not happy with this development.
