Rodgers on MVP voter who snubbed him over vaccine: ‘He’s an absolute bum’

Aaron Rodgers has responded, and he didn’t hold back.

A day after longtime Chicago sportswriter Hub Arkush said he wouldn’t be voting for Rodgers as the league’s MVP because the quarterback is “a bad guy” and the “biggest jerk in the league”, Rodgers let him have it.

“I think he’s a bum,” Rodgers said of Arkush. “I think he’s an absolute bum. He doesn’t know me. I don’t know who he is, no one knew who he was probably until yesterday’s comments.

“I listened to the comments. To say he had his mind made up in the summertime, in the offseason, that opinion should exclude future votes. His problem isn’t with me being a bad guy or the biggest jerk in the league, cause he doesn’t know me. He doesn’t know anything about me. I’ve never met him, had lunch with him, I’ve never had an interview with him.”

It’s clear that Rodgers’ decision not to get vaccinated played into Arkush’s opinion that he is not the league’s MVP. Arkush said he believes Rodgers is probably the most valuable on the field, but that he didn’t think “a bad guy can be the most valuable guy at the same time.”

Arkush issued an apology on Wednesday, not for his comments, but for the decision to disclose them publicly.

“His problem is I’m not vaccinated,” Rodgers continued. “So if he wants to go on a crusade, and collude, and come up with an extra letter to put on the award for this season, and make it the Most Valuable Vaccinated Player, then he should do that.

“But he’s a bum, and I’m not going to waste any time worrying about that stuff,” Rodgers concluded. “He doesn’t know who I am and he’s never talked to me in his life. It’s surprising that he would even say that to be honest, but I knew this was possible, I talked about it on (The Pat McAfee Show) weeks ago. But, it’s crazy.”
