John Lynch added some unneeded awkwardness to Thursday’s immensely disappointing 49ers loss.
Lynch liked a tweet on Friday, accidentally he says, that was critical of quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo after Jimmy G’s rough showing vs. Tennessee. The tweet read: “Leave Jimmy in Nashville”
Lynch quickly apologized, and said the “like” was unintentional.
Most have taken Lynch at his word, probably because a.) he stands to gain nothing by liking the tweet and b.) it really doesn’t seem like Lynch’s style.
Garoppolo is in the camp of those who believe Lynch. He said on Wednesday that there is no issue between the two, that Lynch called him to apologize and that Lynch has always been a first-class guy.
“Yeah, John did.” Garoppolo said when asked if Lynch called him. “John’s first class, always has been, always will be. I’m sure he didn’t do it on purpose. Whatever social media mistake, stuff happens. I trust John. John’s been nothing but good to me since I’ve been here so I don’t see him changing anytime soon.”
