Warriors forward Draymond Green has entered health and safety protocols, joining several teammates.
Green, averaging 8.4 points, 7.9 rebounds and 7.5 assists per game, is playing some of the best ball of his career as the heart of Golden State’s defense. He recently recorded his first triple double of the season and led the Warriors to a statement win on Christmas Day in Phoenix.
The Athletic’s Shams Charania was the first to report the news.
Jordan Poole, Andrew Wiggins, Moses Moody and Damion Lee are also in protocols. Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James recently complained that “everybody has guys out…except Golden State.”
Before the Warriors’ win over the Suns, Green expressed frustration with having to play two consecutive road games on Christmas.
Green is reportedly vaccinated, but it’s unclear if he’s received a booster shot. Players need two negative COVID-19 tests 24 hours apart to exit health and safety protocols. Ten days must pass before those negative tests, meaning if Green tested positive on Dec. 26, the first game he could return for could be Jan. 9 against Cleveland — six games from now.
