As the 49ers prepare to face the Chicago Bears in a must-win meeting, the list of injuries for both teams to manage is substantial.
After a calf injury kept Deebo Samuel out of practice on Wednesday, he returned to the field on Thursday. Trey Lance remained involved and showed no ill signs of the knee sprains which have kept him sidelined since his debut. He was limited on Wednesday.
San Francisco was still without Trent Williams (ankle), though, along with a host of other players. The defensive line depth continues to look bleaker by the moment, though the pending return of Jordan Willis, whose suspension for performance-enhancing substances was lifted this week — and who has a one-week roster exemption — could be a boost
Below is the 49ers’ injury report:
DNP:
- Azeez Al-Shaair (concussion)
- Dee Ford (concussion)
- Maurice Hurst (calf) – could be out for the year, was given a 4-8 week recovery timeline
- Javon Kinlaw (knee) – went to Los Angeles on Wednesday to be evaluated for potentially season-ending surgery
- Jaquiski Tartt (knee) – out for multiple weeks with bone bruise
- Trent Williams (ankle, elbow)
- Nick Bosa (rest)
Limited:
- Samson Ebukam (ankle) – first time he’s appeared on the injury report this week
- Deebo Samuel (calf) – was involved in pass-catching drills with quarterbacks, but didn’t run routes or do footwork drills
- Trey Lance (knee)
Full:
- Alex Mack (rested Wed.)
On the Bears’ side of things, star pass rusher Khalil Mack is not expected to play this week, as he deals with a lingering foot injury.
