It looks like the Giants won’t get respect from oddsmakers until they win the whole thing.
Despite having the best record in baseball for nearly the entire regular season, and staving off the 106 win Dodgers with no room for error during the final month, the Giants have just the fourth best odds to win the World Series according to Caesars Sportsbook.
Unsurprisingly, the Dodgers who finished with the second-best record, but the best run differential (+269) in MLB are the most likely to win according to Vegas, their odds set at +375 ($100 winning bet equals $375 of profit). They are followed by the Houston Astros at +475, the Tampa Bay Rays at +650, the San Francisco Giants at +675, the Chicago White Sox at +750 and the Milwaukee Brewers at +800.
The long shots are the New York Yankees and Atlanta Braves at +1,200, the Boston Red Sox at +1,600 and St. Louis Cardinals at +2,000.
The Giants had the worst preseason odds of all the playoff teams to win the World Series, at 100-to-1 on Opening Day, and 200-to-1 back in February. The Cardinals actually had worse odds recently, clocking in at 500-to-1 in August before going on a tear.
