The 49ers will have four running backs active for Sunday’s home opener vs. the Packers. Rookie Elijah Mitchell won’t be one of them.
The sixth-round pick is still recovering from a shoulder injury sustained in Sunday’s win over the Eagles, and is not healthy enough to play. The 49ers other rookie running back, Trey Sermon, is no longer in the concussion protocol, and will likely get the lion’s share of the carries. Kerryon Johnson, Trenton Cannon and Jacques Patrick are also active.
The 49ers will also be without cornerbacks Dre Kirkpatrick and Ambry Thomas, as well as rookie guard Aaron Banks who has yet to be active for a regular season game.
The active cornerbacks will be Emmanuel Moseley, Josh Norman, K’Waun Williams, Deommodore Lenior and Dontae Johnson.
The Packers will be down to their third string left tackle, as reserve Elgton Jenkins is on their inactive list. Green Bay is still without Pro Bowler David Bakhtiari.
