Dominic Leone started the game as a one-inning opener, retiring Trea Turner, Max Muncy and Mookie Betts in order.

Brandon Belt got San Francisco on the board with his 21st homer of the year, a solo shot off Walker Buehler in the bottom of the first inning.

Golden State Warriors star shooting guard Klay Thompson took in the game. He recently said third baseman Kris Bryant reminds him of himself.

Manager Gabe Kapler was aggressive with his bullpen decisions, particularly early in the game. SF used nine pitchers total.

LaMonte Wade Jr. and Brandon Crawford scored three runs combined.

Steven Duggar, in his first big league at bat in a month, provided a jolt with a 2-RBI triple in the third inning. He said he’d been mentally preparing to contribute “from the second I got optioned.”

Both Crawford and Mike Yastrzemski laid down picturesque bunts for singles.

Camilo Doval, a flame-throwing righty with command issues, fired his first pitch to the backstop but settled in to pitch 1.1 solid innings.

Yastrzemski, who had been struggling at the plate, went 2-for-3 with a run and a walk.

After Albert Pujols’ two-run shot put a scare in Giants fans, Jake McGee earned the save.
