When it comes to fans running on the field, Monday night’s incident in the Giants-Mets game was a particularly bizarre one.
For starters, the culprit who made it over the fence in the left-field bleachers during the ninth inning was wearing a Mark Loretta San Diego Padres jersey, which has to take the cake for the most random jersey ever seen by a fan who has made it onto the field during a Giants game.
Secondly, the stadium security didn’t seem too interested in chasing him, instead letting him run around for a bit as they slowly walked towards him.
Lastly, and most entertainingly, the fan ran onto the pitchers mound and mimed a pitch, before taking matters into his own hands and running head first in the security who finally took him down.
Perhaps he was trying to fulfill a lifelong dream of standing on a Major League mound. We’re guessing that dream probably didn’t originally involve ending up face down behind that mound moments later.
