The Warriors’ best player from their wretched 2019-20 campaign has been traded. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Eric Paschall, who was honored as a first-team All-Rookie in that season, was traded to the Utah Jazz in exchange for a protected future second-round pick.
The trade comes after The Athletic’s Tony Jones reported that the Jazz had interest in Paschall, who they reportedly liked in the lead-up to the 2019 NBA Draft. It also comes after Paschall seemed to fall out of favor in the Warriors’ rotation last year and struggled to find the same form he had the prior year after dealing with a nagging hip injury, and never quite looked like himself.
Paschall, 24, will head to Utah as a potentially useful role player who operates mostly as a power forward despite his 6-foot-6 height.
His minutes per game decreased from about 27 in ’19-20 to about 17 last season, but his per-36 averages remained roughly where they were or improved slightly. His shooting percentage held at exactly 49.7 percent.
According to Anthony Slater, the pick will come in 2026.
