It looks like the Warriors are having their cake and eating it too.

Golden State elected to not make a win-now move with their selection of Jonathan Kuminga at No. 7. That seems to matter a whole lot less after taking Moses Moody at No. 14, a player that many thought the Warriors might take with their first lottery pick.

Call it good fortune or good planning, Golden State now has a talented wing that is projected to contribute right away, and an even more talented wing that (in theory) can contribute down the line. From a value standpoint, Thursday night looks like a win for the Warriors.

Like Kuminga, 18, Moody, 19, is very young, but far less raw. Most importantly, Moody is considered an elite level three-point shooter right now, something the Warriors could desperately use from their role players.

Moody is also considered a complete player. At 6-foot-6 and 210 pounds with an over seven foot wingspan, he projects to be at the very least a solid wing defender at the NBA level. Moody is also a good passer, but one that needs to become more comfortable handling the ball.

As a freshman with Arkansas in 2021, Moody averaged over 16 points per game on 42.7 percent shooting from the field and 35.8 from downtown. He was named first team All-SEC and an honorable mention to the All-America Team.

Here’s Moody from a few weeks ago after a workout with the Warriors:
