In a game where the Giants’ lack of offense was scary enough, a fouled tipped ball into Buster Posey’s mask ended up being the most frightening moment of the 8-0 shutout at Oracle.
Buster Posey left Wednesday’s game after taking the shot, one that appeared to daze the veteran catcher.

After the game manger Gabe Kapler gave a seemingly positive update on Buster.
“It rung his bell pretty good. He was feeling a bit of dizziness,” Kapler started. “He did see our doctor, was checked for a concussion, and he was not diagnosed with a concussion.
“We’re going to keep monitoring him and see how he feels tomorrow. He was feeling better after the game so that a good signal.”
Starting pitcher Anthony DeSclafani seemed to have a visceral reaction to seeing his catcher take such a hit. A moment he recalled as “for sure scary.”
“It squared him up pretty well. I was super surprised that he stayed in the ballgame. I know getting hit in the head is tricky if it’s a concussion, it’s not good, but I know he’s got a day off tomorrow.”
