The fog has cleared around the City Connect jerseys the Giants will wear.
On Monday the Giants unveiled the jerseys that will be worn against the Nationals next weekend to celebrate their bond with San Francisco, which, indeed, is a hazy place.
Out of the Nike and Giants collaboration came jerseys that feature the Golden Gate Bridge on the sleeves with a fog gradient, which is applied to the “G” on their chest and the numbering, too.
The Giants are one of seven clubs to unveil their Nike MLB City Connect jerseys, joining the Diamondbacks, Red Sox, Cubs, White Sox, Dodgers and Marlins. The orange and white jerseys convey “a mood and symbol of pride that you are in the presence of Giants in this vibrant city,” the release said.
“We are excited to partner with Nike on this collaborative jersey series, which will further show, through this unique artwork, what a special and unique place San Francisco is to so many who both live here and visit,” Mario Alioto, the Giants’ executive vice president of business operations, said in a statement. “The imagery of the Golden Gate Bridge and our summertime fog connects our players, our fans and our community to this amazing city.”
This jersey represents what we’ve always known about San Francisco, that there’s more to us than meets the eye.#SFGiants | @nikediamond pic.twitter.com/yeFl1Fqsi2
