One of the holdovers of the Warriors’ championship dynasty will hold on to a roster spot at least one more year. Adrian Wojnarowski has reported that Kevon Looney will exercise his player option and remain on the team for the 2021-22 season.
Kevon Looney is exercising his $5.1M option to return to the Golden State Warriors next season, sources tell ESPN.

The UCLA product will make just over $5.1 million next season, the third year of a contract he signed in 2019. He is set to make just south of $15 million over the course of those three years.
At the time of publication, Looney exercising his option would make him the 164th highest paid player in the league next year, ahead of Troy Brown, Obi Toppin and Josh Jackson.
The six-year pro has spent his entire career with the Warriors after being drafted as the last player in the first round of the 2015 draft. He averaged 4.1 points, 5.3 rebounds and two dimes a game in 61 appearances last year.
Those statistics don’t completely tell the story of the role Looney had on the baby dubs this past year. Often times he was a stabilizing defensive force on a team that struggled on that side of the ball early in the year.
This is the final year in Looney’s third contract with Golden State. He has made $19.5 million in his six-year career.
