The Giants will stand with the LGBTQ+ community, not just off the field but on it.
The Giants will kick off Pride month by incorporating an “SF” Pride logo onto the right sleeve of their home jerseys and wearing a custom cap that salutes the community during a game against the Cubs at Oracle Park on Saturday.
In doing so, they will become the first MLB club to integrate the colors into uniforms that will be worn by players on the field, rather than just selling them.
“Very proud that the San Francisco Giants are taking this step, I’m very proud to be a part of it,” manager Gabe Kapler said over Zoom on Tuesday before a game against the Angels. “And I’m looking forward to the impact and the support that we can provide for the LGBTQ+ community.”
The Giants also will host Pride Movie Night at Oracle Park on June 11 and 12.
“We are extremely proud to stand with the LGBTQ+ community as we kick off one of the best annual celebrations in San Francisco by paying honor to the countless achievements and contributions of all those who identify as LGBTQ+ and are allies of the LGBTQ+ community,” Giants CEO Larry Baer said in a statement.
