We now know where and when the 49ers will play their three preseason games this summer. The league announced its condensed preseason schedule on Friday, in which every team now plays just three games, as opposed to four, with the regular season extended by a game.
San Francisco will start the slate at home on Saturday, Aug. 14 in a rematch of Super Bowl LIV vs. the Chiefs at Levi’s Stadium. They will continue against the AFC West with matchups vs. the Chargers at SoFi Stadium on Aug. 22, and closing the preseason vs. the Raiders at home on Aug. 29.
Because the 49ers have one more away game than home game during the regular season, two of their three preseason games will be at Levi’s Stadium. The extra home game will alternate between preseason and regular season every year from here on out.
