Longtime NFL defensive end Aldon Smith returned to the league last year for the Dallas Cowboys after being reinstated following four years out of the league. He has a long and deeply sad history of arrests and addiction issues. Last year provided cause for encouragement; Smith played and started in a full 16 games for Dallas, finishing with 5.0 sacks on the year.
Following that season, Smith signed with the Seattle Seahawks, who officially announced the acquisition on April 15.
But it appears Smith is back in legal trouble again. According to a bulletin from James Pohlmann, the sheriff of St. Bernard Parish, a suburb surrounding the New Orleans, Lousiana area, Smith is wanted on a second degree battery charge. According to the bulletin, the alleged battery occurred at the French Press Coffee House in Chalmette and Smith departed the scene. According to law enforcement, there is video of the incident.
