All eyes are on the #49ers and the 3rd overall pick in the #NFLDraft… so we asked @RapSheet what he's heard and if John Lynch ever picked up the phone and called the #NYJets to inquire about #2? pic.twitter.com/4qAlpOx3fn

With each passing day, we seem to know less and less about who the 49ers are picking with the third overall pick. While there have been plenty of wink-wink reports that the team is likely to draft or prefers Alabama’s Mac Jones, they also came with a caveat that no one knows anything. So, we’re back to square one.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said Friday on the Rich Eisen show that, well, no one knows. While he said the talk of Mac Jones is legitimate, that was based in the fact that Shanahan said openly that the 49ers are scouting all three of Jones, Justin Fields and Trey Lance.
“What I don’t 100 percent know is, are they actually doing it?” Rapoport said. “Everyone agrees Mac Jones is a first-round pick. Not everyone agrees that he should be there. So, is he Kirk Cousins-plus for Kyle? Maybe. But I’m not 100 percent ready to say this is definitely the guy, let’s move on because he’s the pick.”
Rapoport went on to say that Shanahan and general manager John Lynch are playing their cards close to their chest.
“Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch have not told people in their organization, “Rapoport said. “There’s only a couple of people who actually really know, and they’re not saying… I believe very few people really know the answer to this.”
