Another center down, zero to go.
The Warriors don’t have any centers left with Kevon Looney on the shelf. Looney sprained his ankle in the Warriors’ loss to the Celtics on Tuesday, and will be re-evaluated two weeks from Wednesday, the team announced. That would mean Looney will miss seven games. James Wiseman is also out with a sprained left wrist, and is expected to return before Looney. His is due for a re-evaluation 5-8 days.
Without Looney, Wiseman and Marquese Chriss, who is out for the season as he recovers from a broken leg, the Warriors don’t have a true center on the roster. According to Slater, the Warriors don’t plan on adding anybody in the meantime, electing instead to go with Draymond Green and Juan Toscano-Anderson as small-ball fives in the interim.
Toscano-Anderson was terrific on Tuesday in 27 minutes, playing aggressive defense while scoring 16 points on 3-for-3 from three-point range.
