The offseason is a beautiful time, especially when quarterbacks are on the market. Both Matthew Stafford and Deshaun Watson have requested trades, and there are a handful of top quarterback prospects in the draft.
As you may have noticed, there is some buzz about the 49ers trading for Watson or Stafford. Watson seems like he may be out of reach given that there’s no precedent for a young, affordable quarterback of his caliber coming on the market, and with multiple teams capable of out-bidding the 49ers.
But Stafford? At age 33 and with the Lions reportedly not finding the market for him they had hoped, the 49ers could make a move without selling the farm. And according oddsmaker BetOnline, the 49ers are the odds-on favorites to acquire Stafford, and by a substantial margin.
As of Thursday, these are the odds for Stafford’s next team:
- San Francisco: +100
- Indianapolis: +350
- New England: +500
- Denver: +600
- Washington: +750
- Dallas: +800
And for Watson, the Dolphins are such high favorites that BetOnline has locked odds:
- Miami: Locked
- Jets: +200
- New Orleans: +800
- San Francisco: +800
- Carolina: +900
- New England: +900
