If you’re on the Deshaun Watson-to-the-49ers hype train, it might be time to pump the brakes. Based on the odds on Watson’s next destination, that might not even be severe enough. It’s very unlikely to happen.
Watson, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, has likely played his last snap with the Texans. But, per SportsBetting.com, there are… 13 teams who are viewed as more likely to acquire Watson than the 49ers. That even includes the Las Vegas Raiders.

There are myriad issues the 49ers face, but most obviously, it’s a lack of assets. Most other teams on that list also lack at least a competent starting quarterback, and have more assets to part with.
As Adam Schefter reported this weekend, the New York Jets, with Robert Saleh in place, have copious amounts of cap space and a stockpile of draft picks, including the No. 2 overall pick, in addition to a still cheap Sam Darnold under contract. The Miami Dolphins are in a similar situation with the No. 3 overall pick and Tua Tagavailoa, but can also offer no state income tax. Watson, according to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, is open to moving to the Dolphins.
