We don’t have confirmation which two members of the Warriors have contracted COVID-19, but we might as well.
The team announced last week that two players had tested positive for the virus, but did not disclose who, due to league rules. On Monday, head coach Steve Kerr mentioned that only two players did not practice, and that those two players were Draymond Green and James Wiseman. When pressed, Kerr said he could not elaborate.
“I will not comment on that any further,” Kerr said on Zoom. “You can make your own deductions.”
The Warriors were supposed to start practice last week but had to postpone until Monday due to the positive tests. Kerr did mention that it’s not an ideal situation for Wiseman, who is already facing an expedited training camp and added pressure to contribute right away with Klay Thompson out for the season.
“It’s unfortunate, but it’s just the way it goes,” Kerr said. “Our coaching staff has been showing him tape the last few days. He’s still getting some homework in. It’s not ideal, but nothing’s ideal for anyone in 2020.”
