Less than three weeks remain before the NBA is back, somehow, the Golden State Warriors have an official schedule, for half the year, at least.
Due to concerns about the schedule being played out in full, or the need for postponements, the NBA has only released the first half of the NBA schedule. The NBA says it will release the second-half schedule towards the end of the first half of the season. The Warriors’ first-half schedule can be found here.
The Warriors have a trio of preseason games on December 12 against Denver, and December 15 and 17 against Sacramento before their season opener in Brooklyn on December 22.
They’ll open with a four-game road trip featuring a Christmas Day game against the Milwaukee Bucks, and stops in Chicago and Detroit before returning to San Francisco.
For the first time since 1982, the Warriors will host a New Year’s Day game, which serves as the first part of two-straight games at home against Portland. After a home game against Sacramento, they’ll have another two-straight games at home against the Los Angeles Clippers, and close out the seven-game homestand against Toronto and Indiana.
At that point, the schedule starts to get less block-ey in terms of long stretches of home and away games, but it is absolutely crammed with games in a short period of time. That’s a result of the NBA’s season going on hold, and the playoff bubble forcing this season to get underway as quickly and efficiently as possible. In the span of 72 days, the Warriors will play 37 games, and there will be a total of five back-to-back games (at home against Portland, the Clippers and Minnesota, and on the road with four straight against the Mavericks and Spurs over the span of six days).
Per Positive Residual, the Warriors will travel the second-most miles of any NBA team, behind only the Toronto (Tampa for the season) Raptors.
