There are no untradeable contracts in the NBA.

It seemed like the Rockets were going have a hard time moving Russell Westbrook, who at 32 years old and owed over $132 million over the next three seasons made in known he wanted out of Houston.

Now he has his wish.

Westbrook was traded to the Washington Wizards in exchange for fellow point guard John Wall and 2023 protected first-round pick. How did the Rockets get the Wizards to agree to take on all that salary? Wall, 30, is also owed over $132 million over the next three seasons.

Both Westbrook and Harden (and many others) have reportedly wanted out of Houston in the wake of head coach Mike D’Antoni and general manager Daryl Morey leaving this offseason. Westbrook spent just one year on the Rockets, making the All-Star team while averaging 27.2 points, 7.9 rebounds and 7 assists per game.

Wall is coming off an Achilles injury that relegated him just just 32 games in 2019-20. Wall made the All-Star team in the five previous seasons. Wall averaged 20.7 points, 3.6 rebounds and 8.7 assists before injury last season.
