It’s comical at this point.

Though seemingly impossible, the 49ers will be even more shorthanded than initially believed when they face the Packers on Thursday night.

Left tackle Trent Williams and receiver Brandon Aiyuk will also be unavailable as both were in close contact with Kendrick Bourne who tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday morning. Deebo Samuel is also among that group, but was already slated to miss Thursday’s game due to injury. All three have been placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

The late scratch for Aiyuk means that Trent Taylor is the only receiver currently on the active roster who is available for Thursday’s game. Practice squad receivers Kevin White, River Cracraft and Chris Finke will all likely be called up and available.

For those keeping track at home the 49ers will be without their starting left tackle, top three wide receivers, three of their top four running backs, their top tight end and starting quarterback on Thursday.
