It’s not yet worth a sigh of relief, but at the moment, there’s no broken bone in George Kittle’s foot. The injury was enough to see him removed from Sunday’s game, but according to 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan, on first check, Kittle avoided a fracture.

“Nothing was broken, at least on X-rays,” Shanahan said. “We’ll have to check the MRIs tomorrow.”

The team hopes Jordan Reed will be able to play this Thursday, but that’s far from definitive.

As for Jimmy Garoppolo, Shanahan said “you’d have to ask Jimmy,” how his ankle feels, a somewhat cryptic answer on an obvious re-aggravation of his ankle sprain. The severity is not immediately apparent and Garoppolo was not made available after exiting Sunday’s game.

Shanahan also confirmed that running back Tevin Coleman re-aggravated his knee, an MCL sprain in which was the cause of his extended stay on injured reserve since the Week 2 win over the New York Jets.

Also injured on Sunday was Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles (hamstring) and Dante Pettis (shoulder), neither of whom returned. Sunday may well represent the last we see of Pettis in a 49ers uniform.
