Once again KNBR, the San Francisco 49ers and Dignity Health are teaming up to help stop the spread of the coronavirus. In support of California’s Wear A Mask public awareness campaign, we will be giving away hundreds of Niner-Dignity Health branded masks. Click here for more information.

This week, the NFL experienced its first COVID scare of the 2020 season, when eight members of the Tennessee Titans tested positive, leading to the postponement of two NFL games. 49ers President Al Guido joined “Papa & Lund” on Friday, and explained the importance of the NFL staying vigilant in the wake of the scare.

“Obviously tough week for the Tennessee Titans and the NFL on that front,” Guido told Papa and Lund on Friday. “I think Papa, you said it, you come down here every day, you get your test, you go through it. We’re kind of in our own little bubble here in Santa Clara. I think the point is to stay vigilant. This thing is still out there, we’re still battling it, and as much as we’re doing everything we possibly can, we got to really stay on top of it.

“If anything I think the good news coming out of it is the Minnesota Vikings have had negative tests, knock on wood, so if there were guys that were participating in that game, they did not spread it during that game. I think when you guys had me on at the beginning of the year I said we’re going to kick this season off, we’re going to keep going, but it’s really important that our players, coaches, staff, everyone around the 49ers stays really smart about who we interact with, wearing a mask, socially distancing, because we want to get through this NFL season. Not just for us but for our entire fanbase.”
