Sharks captain Logan Couture says he was sucker punched on Tuesday night Toronto, for talking openly about voting for the Republican Party, and mentioning Donald Trump by name.
I spent last night in Toronto Ontario. I talked about voting for the Republican Party, and I mentioned Donald Trump by name. I was sucker punched. Is this really what we are coming to? If you vote you are a villain? Man this world is so wrong

Couture was shocked at the idea of getting punched for his political views, especially considering as a Canadian citizen, he’s not legally allowed to vote in the general election on Nov. 3. Couture went on to say that he is not a fan of Donald Trump but would likely vote for him because of his affiliation with the Republican Party.
Craziest part is I don’t vote. I mentioned my father being a former police officer. I really don’t believe this is the world we live in

Saying my dad was a police officer and I “would” if I could vote republican.

Couture said he will never talk about politics ever again in a public setting.
Thank you for this. I am completely wrong for going public with my political views. I understand now. This world is at its tipping point. A wise man once said nothing at all, that’s how we should all go about our business. I love my fans, haters as well!

Couture’s teammate Evander Kane has been one of the most outspoken individuals in the NHL regarding the Black Lives Matter movement, which has proved to be divisive along political lines. Couture came out in support of that movement months ago.
