Kyle Shanahan is a great coach. 49ers general manager believes he has at least one quality in common with perhaps the greatest coach.

Lynch joined the Murph & Mac Show on Friday morning, and pointed to one aspect Shanahan and the legendary coach have in common. Lynch outta know. He played for Walsh at Stanford from 1992-1993.

“One of the great things that Kyle does, I just sit there and marvel at the way he communicates with his team, he shows examples over and over of how we want to practice,” Lynch said. “It reminds me of Bill Walsh when I played for him at Stanford. ‘This is how you need to practice.’ You can practice full speed without tackling to the ground and doing everything.”

Lynch says that Shanahan’s ability to prep his players allows them to get the most out of a practice that has limited contact.

“So you learn to get very precise. The only thing you’re not doing is tackling to the ground, blocking to the ground like to do in a football game. If you can do that, you have a big advantage because you have a chance to stay healthier, while also getting full speed reps.

“I think the fact that we’ve been around each other for a while in terms of our team and coaches, I think that gives us an advantage.”
