The very early returns are that the Giants’ 60-game season is going to feel a lot longer. Jaylin Davis finding his power at the major league level could change that, however.
After falling into an early 2-0 hole to the Dodgers on Friday — one night after losing 8-1 on Opening Day — Davis powered some life into the Giants dugout, launching Ross Stripling’s 2-2 fastball into the right field bleachers. The homer is San Francisco’s first of the season.
The opposite field jack is the type of thing the Giants barely saw after calling Davis up last season, despite the 26-year-old blasting 25 home runs in 68 AAA games. Davis’ homer on Friday matches his total with the Giants in 2019 (17 games).
