The 49ers want more draft picks.

That’s the main takeaway from Adam Schefter’s Monday morning report that San Francisco is fielding calls on both their No. 13 and No. 31 overall picks, “and are open to dealing both selections,” in Thursday’s upcoming NFL Draft.

After No. 31, the 49ers don’t draft again until the fifth round at No. 156. General manager John Lynch traded this year’s second-round pick for defensive end Dee Ford last offseason, and paired this year’s third and fourth round picks in a midseason deal for now-departed wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders.

Schefter isn’t the only major NFL reporter stoking the trade buzz. NBC’s Peter King has the 49ers trading both of their first rounders in his mock draft that dropped Sunday night.
