It’s well-documented that George Kittle is an athletic freak of nature. That was true even in high school, more than four years before the NFL Combine, when he ran a 4.52-second 40-yard dash, along with an elite broad jump of 132″.
Kittle was born in Madison, Wisconsin, but his family soon moved to Iowa, where he went to two different high schools: Iowa City West High School in Iowa City, Iowa, and then Cedar Falls High School in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Kittle finished out his high school career at Norman High School in Norman, Oklahoma, after his father, Bruce, suddenly took an assistant coaching job under former Iowa Hawkeyes teammate Bob Stoops at Oklahoma University in 2010.
As a sophomore, Kittle reportedly stood at about 6 feet tall at the end of his sophomore season, before growing a full two inches in the offseason. By his junior year, Kittle was 6’4″, 200 pounds, still 47 pounds short of his Combine weight.
At Norman, he also played wide receiver and free safety in addition to tight end, and had 23 receptions for 260 yards and 5 TD, along with at least 29 tackles (1 for a loss), a fumble recovery and 5 interceptions in his junior year, and 370 yards and 6 TD as a senior.
