Another issue for the Giants.
With two outs and the bases loaded in the top of the fourth inning of Wednesday’s finale against the Nationals, Juan Soto hit a line drive that appeared to be destined to wind up deep in Triples Alley to extend the Nationals’ four-run lead.
Steven Duggar sprinted over from right field to make a diving catch, but when he rolled following the grab, he clutched at his left shoulder and was slow to get off the field. The next inning, he was replaced by Austin Slater.
Duggar’s season ended last season when he suffered a shoulder injury while diving into second base against the Diamondbacks. His torn labrum — also the left — required surgery to correct.
Entering the game, Duggar was slashing .235/.276/.342 with four homers and 28 RBIs in 72 games.
