With the MLB trade deadline just five days away, it’s looking like the San Francisco Giants won’t be sellers after all. That’s according to a report by Eno Sarris of The Athletic, who tweeted on Thursday evening that the Giants will not trade soon-to-be free agent Madison Bumgarner, and might even shock everybody by trying to add a piece or two.

The Giants have four games remaining — three vs. the Padres and one vs. the Phillies — before the trade deadline at 1 PM PT on July 31. As of this writing, the Giants sit a game above .500 (52-51), and are 3.5 games out of the final NL Wild Card spot, with three teams, including Philadelphia, ahead of them.

San Francisco has gone 11-3 since the All-Star break and are 17-4 in their last 21. Bumgarner is scheduled to make his final start before the trade deadline on Sunday in San Diego. Bumgarner has given up two runs or less in five of his last six starts.

As far as what the club might look to buy, Jon Morosi of MLB Network reported that the Giants sent one of their high-level scouts to watch Detroit Tigers’ starting pitcher, Matthew Boyd, on Tuesday.
