When DeMarcus Cousins picks up a full head of steam and goes at the basket, it’s probably best to take the strategy of least resistance and move out of the way. Unfortunately for New Orleans Pelicans’ guard Kenrich Williams, this was not the strategy he took on Tuesday night.
Cousins spun off a defender then attacked the rim over Williams with a massive one-handed dunk about midway through the first quarter.
Tonight was the first time that DeMarcus Cousins played in front of the New Orleans crowd since last season, when he tore his right Achilles tendon last season. In the offseason, Cousins couldn’t find any long-term deal he liked or felt he deserved, following an injury which is hard enough for any athlete to recover from, let alone one of Cousins’ size. It’s what led to Cousins signing with the Warriors. Needless to say, he was eager for tonight’s return to New Orleans.
When asked if would play in his first return to New Orleans on Tuesday with the Warriors, former Pelicans Center DeMarcus Cousins told @TheUndefeated: “Oh, for sure.”
