News broke on Saturday afternoon that the Cleveland Browns are looking to trade wide receiver Josh Gordon, and will release him on Monday if they can’t make a deal before then, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. On Sunday morning, Schefter reported that although Gordon would have no say in the matter, he’d prefer to be traded to the 49ers or Cowboys.
Cleveland prefers to trade WR Josh Gordon out of the AFC, and to an NFC team, and that's the Browns' current intent, per sources.
Gordon knows he has no say in where he is traded, but the two places he's hoping to land are with the San Francisco 49ers and the Dallas Cowboys.

Gordon, 27, is scheduled to make just $790K this season before becoming a restricted free agent next offseason. Since his breakout sophomore season in 2013 when he posted 1,646 receiving yards and nine touchdowns with the Browns, Gordon has played in just 11 of a possible 65 games. Gordon missed the entire 2015 and 2016 seasons for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. Kyle Shanahan was Gordon’s offensive coordinator in Cleveland during the 2014 season, in which Gordon appeared in just five games before being suspended for a drunk driving incident.
After the news broke of his impending release, Gordon posted a thank you message to Cleveland on Instagram, ending it with “Anybody need a deep threat WR??”
