The Giants called up Chris Stratton from the minors on Tuesday. He will get the start against the New York Mets Tuesday evening, with reliever Derek Law being sent back down to Triple-A to open up a roster spot, a day after he was called up.

In the midst of a rough season that has seen his major league ERA ballon to 7.43, Law looked good in his relief appearance on Monday, throwing scoreless innings in the 12th and 13th. The Giants likely elected to send down Law instead of Ty Blach to keep Blach as insurance should Stratton get knocked out early.

Stratton is having a rough 2018 in his own right after getting off to a promising start. Stratton has posted a 5.52 ERA in 19 starts for the major league club this season, and lasted just 4 and 1/3 combined innings in his last two appearances. Stratton allowed just one run in six innings in his most recent start with Triple-A Sacramento last week.

Stratton will face Mets starter Steven Matz (5-10, 4.60 ERA).
