The Baltimore Orioles will trade All-Star shortstop Manny Machado to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday, “barring a last minute snag,” according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today. The Arizona Diamondbacks were considered the second most-likely team to land Machado, but have apparently fallen out of the sweepstakes. The Brewers and Phillies are still in discussions with the Orioles.

Machado, 26, is due to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason, and will likely garner a deal worth around $26 million annually according to Spotrac. Machado is having a career year at the plate in 2018, with a slash line of .315/.387.575 and 24 home runs. Machado will start for the AL in Tuesday’s All-Star Game, his fourth All-Star appearance in seven seasons.
The Dodgers enter the All-Star break with a 53-43 record, sitting in first place in the NL West, with a half game lead over the Diamondbacks.
