Former Memphis Grizzlies forward Omari Johnson will join the Warriors summer league team, according to a report by Ridiculous Upside.
Johnson was waived by the Grizzlies on Sunday, after playing in four games for Memphis last season. Johnson had an impressive showing in the final game of the NBA season, scoring 13 points, grabbing four rebounds, and dishing four assists against the Thunder.
The 6-foot-9 forward spent the majority of the season with the Grizzlies’ G-League affiliate, averaging 16.5 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. Johnson was an excellent 3-point shooter in the G-League, making just over three 3-pointers a game on nearly 42 percent shooting.
At 29 years old, Johnson spent the majority of his professional career playing abroad, with stops in Canada, Spain, and Lithuania. Johnson was an NBL Canadian All-Star in both 2012 and 2013.
Johnson went un-drafted after playing four years at Oregon State (2007-11) averaging 7.2 points and 6.2 rebounds per game during his senior season.
