SAN FRANCISCO — Alen Hanson, Joe Panik’s replacement, is also on the mend, and we just found out that he may be out longer than expected.
Hanson went on the 10-day disabled list last week after injuring his left hamstring at Pittsburgh. Giants manager Bruce Bochy told reporters before Sunday’s game that Hanson was a few days behind in his rehab, which was expected to end next week.
“He’s not even going to go with us to Houston,” says Bochy.
Despite the delay, Bochy didn’t seem to think his injury has morphed into a long-term problem, something that the Giants have been struggling with this 2018 season.
“He’s getting some ground balls and things too,” says Bochy. “He’s coming around; it’s just going to take a few more days.”
Hanson broke out in his two-week stint, hitting .298 with four home runs.
