Raiders trade down in first round, draft UCLA tackle Kolton Miller

This offseason Mark Davis effectively turned over the keys to the Oakland Raiders (and $100 million) to John Gruden when he signed the former ESPN analyst to a 10-year head coaching contract. With his first major move as the head coach of the Raiders, Gruden decided to trade down from pick 10 to 15 and select UCLA tackle Kolton Miller.

Miller isn’t the most polished tackle prospect, but has a ton of athletic upside. He set the record for broad jump at the combine for tackles. From Walter Football:

“At the NFL Scouting Combine, Miller had a superb workout, showing rare quickness and athleticism to go along with his big size. He had a rough start to 2017, but was a decent blocker for Josh Rosen as UCLA’s left tackle. Miller has good length to him and the ability to stay on the edge in the NFL. However, he might be a better fit as a right tackle in the pros as he can have problems with speed rushes to the inside. Miller had some inconsistent tape in his final collegiate season. He played right tackle in 2015 and 2016 before injuries ended those seasons early. Miller only played in five games in 2016.”

To move up from pick 15 to pick 10, the Arizona Cardinals had give the Raiders a 3rd-round pick (No. 79) and a fifth-round selection (No. 152).
