In the closing moments of the Golden State Warriors’ 112-96 win over the Sacramento Kings, Patrick McCaw went up for a dunk and fell hard on his back.
McCaw writhed in pain immediately after landing on his lower back. He needed to be taken off the court on a stretcher, and was quickly transported by medical staff to the UC Davis Medical Center.
Vince Carter appeared to create contact with McCaw as the 2nd-year player out of Las Vegas headed toward the basket. Steve Kerr appeared to yell following the injury.
“God damnit. I’m not mad at you,” Kerr appeared to yell at a referee. “I’m mad at Vince. He knows better.”

Vince Carter spoke with reporters following the game.
“I just wanted to tell them I’m not really into all of that,” Vince Carter said, referring to what he told Warriors coaches and players following the injury. “I apologize, but I wanted to say it to them … I don’t play the game that way. So to see a young guy laying down there, it’s an unfortunate situation for us.”
