Speaking to reporters at Warriors shoot around on Thursday, head coach Steve Kerr was asked about Donald Trump’s recent comments regarding gun control, when the President appeared to reverse his original stance, saying he’s in favor of expanding background checks and increasing the age of purchase to 21.
Kerr expressed amusement at the surprising change of tone, saying that the president reminded him of Brick Tamland from the movie Anchorman.
“I was hardly surprised, I think he’d forgotten which side he was on,” Kerr told reporters Thursday. “It reminded me of Anchorman when Brick [Tamland] ends up on the wrong side of the fight…and they’re like ‘no, no, Brick, you’re on this side.’ Sorry, is that wrong? I’m in big trouble…it was worth it. I know I’m gonna take all kinds of s–t, but it was worth it.”

Here’s the scene Kerr is referring to, with Tamland played by Steve Carrell.
Here’s a snippet of Trump’s comments from Thursday’s bipartisan meeting:
“Mike, take the firearms first and then go to court, because that’s another system,” Trump said in the meeting, which was broadcast to the public, when Pence suggested that the police could obtain court orders to confiscate firearms from people identified as dangerous. “A lot of times, by the time you go to court, it takes so long to go to court, to get the due process procedures. I like taking the guns early.”
