Draymond Green finished second in fan voting among all Western Conference frontcourt players in All-Star voting, but was not named as a starter due finishing seventh in player voting and sixth among the media. Fan votes account for 50 percent of the vote total, NBA media members hold 25 percent of the vote while NBA players possess the remaining 25 percent. Green can still be selected as a reserve by the league’s head coaches, which will be revealed on January 23. Fellow Warriors Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry were named West starters, along with James Harden, Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins. Green was named to the West All-Star team in 2017 and was named as a West starter in 2016.
The NBA altered its All-Star Game format this season so that two captains will have the opportunity to draft their respective rosters after the other 22 All-Stars are selected. LeBron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Joel Embid, Kyrie Irving, DeMar Derozen were slected as starters in the Eastern Conference.
