While making an appearance on the Bill Simmons Podcast, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr was asked the question, “you’re at a bar with your Final 4 teammates from the University of Arizona, Sean Elliott, Tom Tolbert, Kenny Lofton, and you. Who gets the girl?”
“Tom Tolbert did get the girl,” Kerr said.
Kerr went on to recollect on how his teammate and current KNBR host Tom Tolbert met his wife during a team dinner at T.G.I. Fridays.
“We had these team dinners, I think we went to Fridays, and the waitress was just drop-dead gorgeous,” Kerr said. “All of the guys were like, ‘oh my gosh. Look at her. Look at her.’ And Kenny Lofton was totally trying to hit on her.”
Although Lofton was a teammate of Kerr and Tolbert on Arizona’s basketball team, he also played baseball for the Wildcats and went on to play 17 years in the major leagues.
“He’s like trying to get her number and Tolbert not only gets her number,” Kerr said. “But he ends up marrying her. They’re happily married, they have three kids.”
